Workshop Packet Forth and pure:dyne

A one day introduction to pure:dyne and Packet Forth for students of the KHM. You'll be introduced to the GNU/Linux live CD pure:dyne, the basics of using it and most of all, how to generate visuals using the programming language Packet Forth. Because we've only got half a day, the workshop will take the shape of an interactive demo, where we'll show you some example scripts and you will be able to try them out, alter them and get a feel for the system.

WORKSHOP OUTLINE

- Introduction to pure:dyne: booting cd, docking & nesting, included software
- Basic linux skills: terminal, shell commands, desktop and file browser
- Introduction to Forth: syntax, interpreter, dictionary...
- Packet Forth: fun with PF using prepared dictionaries
- OSC and Packet Forth: example of communication with PureData
